Citroen 2CV vs. Volkswagen Beetle

This series stems from a compilation of photos I started to put together a couple years ago on my phone to share with my friend and dear car enthusiast. I hope that I can at least entertain you to consider that some ideas and designs are not entirely original, or are at least considerably similar to features found on other cars. Looking back, some of these comparisons are not as close as others, but I figures this series would at least be worth sharing for a bit of a laugh.
How these two square off
This comparison worked really well since I was initially able to find both photos of a similarly-colored vehicle taken from a near-identical angle. While there are clear differences between these two, it is also difficult to argue that these two are not very similar. Both are attempts from the French and the Germans to make “the people’s car: a cheap, super efficient, and easy-to-repair vehicle for the masses. The Citroen gets bonus points for being less expensive and slightly easier to repair, while the beetle gets all the credit for style, reliability, and power. To be honest, the Citroen just looks like someone dialed down the fillet tool on a 3d model of the Beetle. Which one would you drive? I certainly wish we had more new cars like these two: simple, affordable, and easily repaired.
What do you think? Which one do you prefer?
